Study Regulations

Students are enrolled by submitting an application form and a number of relevant documents. When enrolled, students are entitled with a student ID, and a health insurance card (optional).

Each academic year starts on 1^st September and ends on 31^st August of the following year and is divided in two semesters, the start and end of which are determined by the TEI Senate.

Each semester lasts 13 weeks and includes a three-week exam period (January and June). Students are also entitled to sit for an additional exam in September.

Students are required to:

• attend 20-35 hours per week

• successfully pass the prerequisites

• complete courses within the prescribed course duration

Grades range from zero (0) to ten (10), pass grade is five (5).

Student performance is characterized as:

• 5 - 6.9 'good'

• 7 - 8.4 ‘very good’

• 8.5-10 'excellent'

Progress and attainment are assessed by a combination of formal examinations both for lecture-based and laboratory modules at the end of each semester, and continuous assessment, which may include mid-term exams, written reports, project work etc

Final grades for modules combining coursework and lab practice are calculated as the average of the two parts..

Students are awarded a degree when they have:

• successfully passed their exams in all modules (compulsory and optional)

• submitted their thesis

• completed a six-month training period
